What is a Holter Monitor?
A Holter monitor is a small, portable device used to record the electrical activity of the heart over an extended period, ranging from 3 days to 14 days. This type of testing is useful for observing occasional heart rhythm irregularities that might not be discovered during a standard EKG test.
What to Expect:
Non-Intrusive Procedure: Being fitted with a Holter Monitor is an outpatient procedure and is rarely intrusive to the patient’s normal daily activities.
Extended Monitoring: Our advanced BardyDX monitors allow for extended monitoring periods, from 3 days up to 14 days, ensuring comprehensive heart rhythm analysis.
Return and Analysis: Once the specified testing period is complete, the patient returns the equipment to Primary Care Associates of Appleton. The recorded information is then downloaded into our computer system and evaluated for any abnormalities.
No Special Preparation: No special preparation is required prior to testing, making it convenient for patients.
